THE POWER OF WORDS® FOUNDATION

A Young Ambassador Turning Words into Action

The Power of Words Foundation is proud to introduce one of our youngest ambassadors, Kashvi Majmundar, age nine, whose journey with the Band-Bond Initiative™ has become a beautiful example of how emotional language can create awareness, connection, and positive action.

Through sustained practice, Kashvi has been learning the Power of Words framework, practicing the meaning behind the seven emotional tools, and using journaling as a way to reflect on her feelings, thoughts, and choices. What began as personal learning has expanded into something larger: a school-based mental health awareness project designed to help others feel seen, heard, and supported.

Discover how you feel

Students, parents, and teachers paused to notice and name emotions through an interactive Emotion Board.

Choose your word

The bands and words created a safe visual language: empathy, magic, speak out/reach out, resilience, warrior, optimism, compassion.

Take one small action

Action Cards invited visitors to move from awareness into kindness, support, and real daily practice.

They make emotions visible, normal, and safe to communicate.

The Bands Help Erase Stigma

For many children and adults, it can be hard to say, I am struggling, I feel overwhelmed, or I need help. Sometimes we do not have the words. Sometimes we feel embarrassed. Sometimes we worry we will be judged.

The bands create a gentle, visible signal: This is where I am today. A child can show an emotion without needing to explain everything immediately. That simple act helps emotions become seen without shame.

The power also goes both ways. A child can use the band to ask for support, and they can notice someone else and ask: Are you okay? Do you need support? How can I help?

Cognitive reframing begins here:

“I can’t handle this” → “I can pause, name what I feel, choose a tool, or reach out.”

This is the heart of Band-Bond: emotions become awareness, awareness becomes choice, and choice becomes action.

From Awareness to Action: The PYP Exhibition

As part of her school’s PYP Exhibition and UN-aligned school project, Kashvi and her team created an interactive stand focused on mental health, empathy, communication, and well-being.

What they created

  • Emotion Board: Visitors chose a word that reflected how they were feeling that day.
  • Action Cards: Visitors selected a small, meaningful action to spread kindness and support well-being.
  • Band-Bond language: Students used the colors and words to make feelings easier to name, show, and support.

Why it mattered

The project moved beyond awareness. It invited action. Students, teachers, and parents participated with enthusiasm and thoughtful reflection. The stand helped show that mental health is not only a topic; it is a daily practice of empathy, courage, communication, and care.

“What made the project stand out was that it encouraged people not only to learn about mental health, but to take real action.”

An Ambassador Is Not a Title. It Is a Practice.

At The Power of Words Foundation, being a Young Ambassador is not about visibility, a photo, or a moment online. It is about commitment, practice, and service.

  • Practice daily: pause, reflect, journal, and choose words with responsibility
  • Speak out / reach out: use courage to ask for help and support others
  • Build community: help others feel safe, seen, included, and supported
  • Lead authentically: live the message as the best version of yourself

Kashvi’s journey reminds us: young people are not too young to lead. With the right tools, they can create a ripple effect of empathy, kindness, communication, and prevention.
